When I was younger, I had a few DUI's and was considered a repeat offender. Most of the time I was pulled over not far from my house or shortly after I would leave a friend's party. I did have a bad drinking problem, and I should have never been driving in the first place, but I was younger and stupid. I actually did some jail time after the third offense. That happened when I was 25, and now I'm reaching 40. Having a child changed me, and made me look at what I was doing with my life. I had to be more responsible for my kid.
I no longer drink and I'm more mature now, of course, and I have a great secure job making a pretty good living. Somehow I found out that it was still on my record after all these years. It was supposed to be removed after a certain time, but it never was. I want to get it off of my record, since I am not that same person and will not be committing that same offense ever again. I called an attorney in Orlando, FL for a consultation to find out what I could do about this. We have an appointment next week.
I don't see why I wouldn't be able to have it removed from that long ago. I've never had a problem at the DMV. I think this is all a matter of paperwork that was not filled out properly and so it's still there on my record as a mistake. I just want to move on with my life and forget that all of that happened. I still drink here and there, but I always make sure I have a ride home with someone who is sober or I call Uber.
